Helstab Project

Fonthill/Pelham, Ontario

2025

Rooted in its own history, this Fonthill property builds upon the quiet confidence of a 1962 mid‑century modern home — where the landscape and architecture were always intended to speak the same language. The design focuses on maintaining that dialogue, refining the way the space functions without disrupting its original character. The result is understated, cohesive, and deeply connected to the home itself.

Areas Worked

Front and Backyard Patios, Landscape, and Concrete Pool Renovation

The strength of this project lies in its restraint.

The pool and surrounding terraces were reconstructed in limestone, flagstone, and large format pavers, materials chosen to extend the home’s mid‑century palette with subtle precision. White glazed brick was reintroduced across walls and structural elements, re‑establishing continuity while carefully updating areas that required rebuilding.

New outdoor living spaces including a pergola, cabana, and built‑in cooking area were integrated with intention, supporting everyday use while remaining secondary to the architecture. Circular stone details, drawn from the clients’ time in Palm Springs, lend quiet personality within an otherwise composed framework.

This is a landscape grounded in authenticity and proportion, true to its origins yet evolved for modern life. Every detail considered, every gesture deliberate.
